SANYA DAWAR: "I chased rooms where I could learn scale."

What accelerated your career beyond talent and hard work?
"Clarity and proximity," Sanya states. "I never chased titles for the sake of them. I chased rooms where I could learn scale, brand power, and cultural influence. Being close to decision-makers, understanding revenue and brand equity in the same breath, that exposure accelerated me far more than just 'doing my job well' ever could."
The internal shift that changed everything?
"Detaching my self-worth from outcomes." There was a time when every campaign felt personal. "The shift was moving from validation-seeking to value-creating. When that changed, my leadership changed. I became calmer, sharper, and far more strategic."
Your secret weapons in boardrooms?
"Silence. And precision." The most powerful people don't rush to fill silence, they let it shift power. "The ability to summarise complex ideas in one clean sentence immediately repositions you as someone who sees the full chessboard. And tone control: assertive without aggression, warm without dilution."
Your counterintuitive decision-making rule:
"If it feels slightly uncomfortable but strategically right, I lean in." Growth decisions rarely feel safe. "I've learned to differentiate between fear and misalignment. If the discomfort is about visibility, responsibility, or scale - that’s usually a sign to move forward. Instinct has protected me more than spreadsheets ever have."

"In luxury, restraint is power. If everything screams, nothing whispers. Retail, at its best, should feel like stepping into a narrative not a transaction."
How success evolved for you:
Peace. "At 25, success looked like visibility big brands, impressive titles. Today, success is autonomy. Being trusted with high-stakes decisions. Being able to say no. It’s building brands that feel culturally relevant and commercially strong at the same time. It's impact with sustainability, not just momentum."
The psychology behind luxury retail design:
"Luxury retail is choreography." People slow down when something feels aspirational but accessible. "The first three seconds matter disproportionately. You're designing micro-moments of validation."
Her three core truths:
People buy identity before product
Scarcity creates desire, but warmth creates loyalty
Overwhelm reduces conversion
